After some time on the window ledge in the caravan we have seedlings and sprouted carrots.
The girls have been fascinated watching the germination process and Freya has loved her research coming to life before her eyes.
The plants are pretty hardened off thanks to Fliss taking them in and out of their growing medium at least twice a day.
We don’t have a garden or any open planting areas so, after a scout about, we created some shallow trenches along the side of the caravan in the grass.
Despite being so close to the beach the grasses have created quite a depth of rich nutrient filled soil with lots of bugs etc.
Freya played out the:
Carrot tops
Melon seeds
Chick oeas
Lentils
Peas
All stared from the pantry or the organic waste bin.
You never know, if the lockdown continues we may even get to harvest then!
