Outdoor construction

We live learning outside. Fresh air, natural resources and so much inspiration all around.

Last week Freya once again proved her construction skills are only out performed by her imagination.

Over our homeschooling journey she has built:

  • Eeyore’s house
  • A birds house
  • A horse paddock
  • Fairy houses
  • Homes for all the toys
  • A school
  • A bird bath
  • A life raft for insects
  • Boats
  • Tents
  • Teepees
  • Tree houses
  • Dens
  • Indoor shekters
  • Outdoor shelters
  • Tents
  • Camouflaged hides and so much more

Her construction is sometimes big enough for adults and sometimes tiny enough for ants. She uses whatever she collects and has developed some great engineering solutions.

This week’s creations included a house by the water for the dragonflies.

She was very clear where the front door was and how it should be entered and what furniture was needed to ensure the dragonfly’s comfort for their stay.

She had used trusses to hold up the central beam and stones to ensure that the sticks weren’t displaced by the downward force officials the roof.

A leaf could be rolled up and down to create the door and a small green leave was the entrance mat to wipe your feet on.

Enchanting.

If only the dragonflies knew what they were missing.
