Learning to survey a boat

Last week our new home, narrowboat Aquinas, was taken out of the water for her survey.

We travelled to Iver in Buckinghampshire, where she is moored, to see her taken out and to learn all we could about her state of repair.

At 9:30 am on a a cold and drizzly day we layered up and watched her fly out of the water with the help of a huge crane!

The girls were mesmerized.

Our surveyor, a father of 9 year old twins, was fantastic. He kept us informed as the survey progressed and answered all of Flossy’s questions lol!

He taught the girls how the ultrasound machine measured the depth of the hull and let them see the pictures on the screen.

We will have to wait about 10 days for the report but fingers crossed there are no major issues and the sale can go ahead ASAP!
